Recipes for SPAM® Appreciation Week (March 4-10 2013): SPAM® Hash
Ingredients:
1 x 340g can of SPAM® Chopped Pork and Ham - chopped into small cubes
340g potatoes - cut into 1/4" dice
2 x shallots of 1 small onion, finely sliced
280ml (1/2 pint) milk
1 x tablespoon vegetable oil
brown sauce (optional)
Method:
1) Heat the oil on a medium high heat in a large frying pan and fry the diced potato for 5 minutes, stir and keep moving with a wooden spatula until softening
2) Add the sliced onion and cook for a further 5 minutes. Meanwhile boil the milk.
3) Add cubed SPAM® Chopped Pork and Ham
4) Add one third of the boiled milk, stir until milk is absorbed and then repeat. Add final third of milk, turn down heat and leave to absorb all milk without any further stirring
5)Turn out on to a warm serving dish and put under a hot grill to lightly brown and crisp as preferred
6) Serve with brown sauce as required
