Councillors turned down an application for a McDonald's to extend opening hours at the weekends.

The fast food chain in Mitcham Road, Tooting, applied to Wandsworth Council for a licence to extend it's opening hours.

The restaurant, located close to Tooting Broadway Station and several late night venues, hoped to stay open until 1am Sunday to Wednesday and until 2am on Thursday.

On Friday and Saturday the branch wanted to serve food until 3am, and in the mornings open at 5am.

But councillors at the licensing sub-committee meeting declined the application yesterday.

The restaurant will remain open from 6am until midnight during the week and until 2am on Friday evenings.
