The Netmums Mum of the Year Award recognises and celebrates the great things mums do in our communities. It is not a competition to see who can do the most , but to let every mum see how much they do in their community.
What every mum does is special and we hope you will join us in celebrating our finalists and national winner, while also using this as a moment to feel proud of yourself.
From 1,100 nominations, a panel of judges selected one winner from each of the 12 Netmums regions. Each regional finalist won a week-long family break in France with Siblu and were entered into a public vote to find our National Mum of the Year.
Newsquest and Netmums readers voted North West mum Aimee Holme as our Mum of the Year.
Young parent Aimee was nominated for the work she has done in the community to support teenage parents. Aimee has helped design and develop a number of workshops and activities to help teen parents explore the realities of parenthood and empower them to make the right decisions. She does this by sharing her own story - the real truth, the hard times, the struggles but also the positives. She is hoping to develop her workshops further so they can be used nationwide.
Aimee, who won a two-week holiday in France with Siblu including spending money, said: “I'm really thrilled to have won the Mum of the Year Award. I really didn't think I stood a chance, but I also now feel like all my hard work has been recognised.
"Not only am I a mum of three daughters under five, but a full time photography student and I also have developed and run workshops for young parents and those who work with young parents. I want to help make young people aware of what being a young parent is like but also to try and change the way young parents are perceived and to help make a difference to the services for young parents and parents in general."
Netmums founder Siobhan Freegard said: “Aimee is a young mum who is using her own experiences as the driving force to help others.”
