A Southfields Community College pupil has landed a place at a leadership summit in the home of American politics - Washington DC.
Merlain Makiadi, 19, will embark on the once in a lifetime trip, followed by an eight-week internship, as part of Bank of America’s Neighbourhood Excellence Initiative student leaders programme.
Merlain will join 225 student leaders from the US for a week-long Student Leadership summit this month.
Highlights include meetings on Capitol Hill to discuss important issues that impact young people.
