Police want to find a man who targeted an elderly woman and conned her out of £100 for work that never happened.

Calling himself Simon, the offender approached the woman at her home in East Molesey and offered to fix broken roof tiles for a fixed fee.

The pensioner did not have the correct amount of money and gave him £100, at which point she had no further contact.

This happened at about 10am on Wednesday, August 13.

The man was white, about 5ft 5in, slim and in his late 20s to early 30s.

He had light brown/blond slicked-back hair and blue eyes, and was wearing a lot of foundation to possibly cover acne.

He was wearing a white T-shirt, dusty light tan Timberland-style work boots and light/faded washed out jeans. He spoke with an Essex accent.

PC Peter Blackall said: "This is a callous offence in which the perpetrator targeted a vulnerable individual and has left the victim not only out of pocket, but with a dear of uninvited callers intruding into the safety of her home."

Anyone with information is asked to call Surrey Police on 101 quoting reference 45140068060.
