A Hampton Court charity hopes to secure £1.5m in funding to support the musical programme at the famous Chapel Royal.

The Choral Foundation, based at Henry VIII’s historic palace, was created to ensure visitors will continue to experience the rich musical heritage the palace has to offer.

The charity needs to raise more than £200,000 towards a major refurbishment for the Chapel Royal’s historic three-manual Schrider organ, built in 1712, which was last refurbished 20 years ago.

Money raised will also go towards providing music lessons for choristers, attracting and retaining professional gentlemen in the choir and spreading their sound to new and wider audiences through ventures outside the palace.
