Vulpine television veteran Basil Brush will be making a special appearance at the Rose Theatre in Kingston to celebrate a special needs school’s 60th anniversary this month.

St Philip’s School in Chessington will mark its diamond anniversary with the aptly-named Diamonds show, which is being held on Thursday, June 12, at the Kingston town centre venue.

As well as featuring song and dance routines from St Philip’s students, everyone’s favourite bushy-tailed raconteur will literally be on hand to entertain the crowds with his trademark wit, punctuated by his famous catchphrase “Boom Boom!”.

He will be joined on stage by Christopher Pizzey, who played Mr Stephen in Basil’s last television series The Basil Brush Show.

Closing the night will be Surrey rockers The Outcasts, who will be performing some classic rock and roll hits from the 1950’s and 60’s.

The show has been organised by the Friends of St Philip’s School, and treasurer Tony Hardy said: “St Philip’s School caters for secondary age children with special educational needs and the Diamonds show gives many students an unforgettable opportunity to appear on a major theatre stage.

“Putting on a show on this scale is a major undertaking and support from the general public is really important to help cover costs.”

Tickets for St Philip’s School Diamonds show cost £10 each and can be bought from the Rose Theatre box office.
