Imprisoned council leader Derek Osbourne will not get a pension from Kingston Council and was never entitled to one, the authority has confirmed.

The authority was responding to a Freedom of Information request asking whether Osbourne, jailed for two years for possessing and distributing indecent images of children, was included in the council’s pension scheme.

Some councils chose to include councillors in the pension scheme, but Kingston did not, it said.

Not a 'non story' at all. The way that Mr Osborne has stained the top office in RBK should ensure that he doesn't enjoy the largesse of the pension fund.

I'm certainly not defending the former Liberal Democrat Council Leader and his disgusting photo collection. However, Kingston counciilors do not have pensions paid for by the Council, as stated in the article.

If someone claimed they do and he was entitled to one, then it would make sense to write an article about it. The fact that he isn't entitled to a pension, that nobody is claiming he is entitled to a pension and that his recent conviction has nothing to do with the fact that he will not be getting a pension, makes this a rather odd story from my point of view.
